I'm Susan, an OFSTED registered childminder located in West Hunsbury, Northampton.I have been a Primary School Teacher for the past 13 years, working in Primary Schools in London, Luton, Italy and Turkey.

Teaching was definitely a vocation for me until the birth of my two children Francis and Elena-Rose.

I really enjoyed my maternity leave, undertaking activities such as cooking, reading stories, visiting baby groups, going for walks, playing in the garden, singing songs etc and as such have decided on a change of career. And what would be better than setting up my very own childminding business!

Having had experience of working within the EYFS, I feel confident that I can provide the children in my care with a fun, safe and nurturing environment in which to grow and develop at their own pace.I also aim to work alongside you, as the primary carers to provide the best possible care.I strive to offer a home from home experience to ensure that your child feels as happy and secure as they would in their own homes.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like a chat.

Healthy Eating/Menu

Healthy Eating/Menu:  All the food I offer is home-cooked from fresh ingredients. We also grow some of our own vegetables in the garden, so your child will have the opportunity to cook and eat something that they have planted themselves. All meals and snacks are included in my fees.
I have a variety of menus that can be adapted to your child’s specific dietary or cultural needs. Please let me know if your child has any allergies or other relevant food requirements so that the menu can be adapted accordingly. Please click on the links to view the menus. I ask that any child under 6 months has their food/milk provided from home (powdered milk to be provided by parents until child is transitioned to cow’s milk, which I will then provide). I am happy to heat up any meals provided by parents and encourage a healthy and balanced diet.

EYFS Framework

As a provider of childcare for children under 5 years old I will follow The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework that enables providers to support children's learning and development.

The Framework consists of four themes and principles which are as follows:
• A Unique Child
• Positive Relationships
• Enabling Environments
• Learning and Development

Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first. These are:
• Communication and language;
• Physical development; and
• Personal, social and emotional development.

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:
• Literacy;
• Mathematics;
• Understanding the world; and
• Expressive arts and design.

So what does this mean for your child?  Learning begins at birth and the EYFS will enable play experiences and activities to be provided that will assist your child to develop and work towards the Early Learning Goals.

As your child’s care provider, I will ensure that the EYFS is delivered through a well-planned, play based approach to learning that allows each child to learn at their own pace with an education plan that is based on their own interests.

I aim to keep clear and well maintained records of your child’s development through the use of the following formative and summative methods:
• Learning Journals, to include; annotated photos and regular observational records, including next steps
• EYFS Profile Progress Trackers
• Progress Check at age 2 as specified in the Early Years Statutory Framework
• Completion of EYFS Profile at age 5
